On September 24th, our friend, Joel Virgel Vierset will swim 21 miles from Catalina Island to the California mainland.
Joel is swimming to raise funds for the Turtle Conservancy.
“As a marathon swimmer, I am intimately connected to the sea and its inhabitants. As such, this is an extremely important cause for me; raising awareness about it is, in fact, the principal reason that I am undertaking this challenge.
”
This fundraiser will provide compensated field trips to the Turtle Conservancy for children from economically disadvantaged schools in Ventura County, giving them access to opportunities they might not otherwise have.
